Car crashes are the number-one killer of youth in America. The Garland Youth Council (GYC) invites all Garland area teens and their families to learn more about preventing such tragedies at TDS Fest, sponsored by the statewide Teens in the Driver Seat® (TDS) program.
TDS Fest will showcase student leaders in bringing awareness about this problem to their peers, their families and their community. Come spend the afternoon with us and learn more. Join us as we celebrate the accomplishment of driving down the fatality rate in Texas while still remembering those who have lost their lives in this epidemic. The event will feature games, prizes, a memorial walk, raffle, and music featured by KISS 106.1 FM. Teens will also have an opportunity to tell their TDS stories on video.
The GYC and Garland ISD high schools have been involved with the TDS program since 2007. The GYC will host a “distracted driving” booth. Learn first hand how texting and other distractions impact your driving skills on a controlled obstacle course.
TDS Fest attendees can also help others while participating in the event. Bring old cell phones for recycling and gently used shoes to be donated to those in need.
Register online until March 2, for discounted admission rates of $2 for students/youth, and $4 for adults. Onsite admission rates are $4 for students/youth, and $7 for adults. You can purchase tickets for booth activities with cash, credit cards or checks.
