Garland Mayor Douglas Athas presented his first State of the City Address at the Garland Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.
The Mayor opened with a video spotlighting the many great things Garland has to offer. During his address, Mayor Athas focused on several key areas: budget, economic development, public safety, quality of life, and the Downtown Garland redevelopment project.
The Mayor highlighted the increase in property values and employment base, as well as the growth in property and sales tax revenue. He pointed out that Garland's business community is also thriving, with redevelopment and new development in full swing.
The presentation was recorded and will be replayed on the City's government access channel, CGTV, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25. CGTV is available on AT&T Uverse channel 99, Time Warner Cable channel 16 and Verizon FIOS channel 44.
