The Garland City Council continues to make progress regarding the future of the Pace and Lyles houses. Council has directed City staff to create a Request for Proposals (RFP) to pave the way for moving the Pace house into private ownership. That RFP is available on the Purchasing department's Current Bids webpage and is labeled bid number 4223-14, Historic Pace House.
Council also is moving forward with plans to retain possession of the Lyles House and relocate it to reside near the historic rail car in the Walnut Street pedestrian corridor. The City will work with the community to establish funding for the house’s ongoing care and maintenance.
The City Council expects to hear updates regarding both houses during upcoming meetings. Such updates will be posted in City Council agendas, which are available at GarlandTx.gov.
