Garland Power & Light customers experiencing power outages should call the Emergency Outage line at 972-205-3000 to report the problem and initiate service restoration. If a customer has a phone number or drivers license associated with their City of Garland utility account, they can enter that number over the phone. Another option is to have the utility account number in hand when the call is made and enter that number. These methods will quickly enter the outage notification into the outage management system.
GP&L line and tree trimming crews are in the field and every effort is being made to restore power as quickly as possible. Due to the nature of the work and weather conditions, we are unable to provide exact restoration times.
Following standard utility industry practice for outage restoration, repairs are first being made to problem areas that can bring electricity back on for the largest groups of customers, such as feeders or lateral lines that serve entire neighborhoods. Next, smaller groups of customers are brought on line, such as a group of homes served on the same transformer. Finally, service lines to individual homes will be repaired.
