Ground-Breaking Ceremony Set for Nov. 18

When: Monday, Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m.
Where: Garland City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St. in Downtown Garland

Officials from the City of Garland and Oaks Properties will host a ground-breaking ceremony to kickoff construction of the next phase of the redevelopment of Downtown Garland.

Oaks Properties’ 5th Street Crossing at City Center project will add about 153 apartment units next to City Hall to be built and managed by Oaks Properties. This new development takes advantage of the opportunities along Garland’s DART rail station and augments the Oaks Fifth Street Crossing development that opened in 2008.

The City of Garland will build a parking structure with at least 330 spaces to serve the public, residential tenants, and those accessing City Hall. Construction on the parking facility will begin immediately. The project also includes updating the City Hall façade.
