The City of Garland invites residents to provide input regarding the search for the City’s next Chief of Police. Our current Police Chief Mitch Bates has accepted a new position as Garland’s Deputy City Manager and Chief Operating Officer.
Residents are invited to a Sunday, Dec. 16 public meeting at the Vietnamese American Community Center, 3221 Beltline Road. The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Vietnamese translation services will be available.
Residents also may provide input about the attributes, background and experiences they want to see in Garland's next Chief of Police via a Citizen Feedback Survey or by contacting the City’s Human Resources Department at GarlandHR@GarlandTX.gov by Monday, Dec. 31.
In an effort to engage residents in the search for this vital leadership position, the City has partnered with various organizations to host public input meetings to discuss qualities for potential candidates.
After 16 years of leadership, current Police Chief Mitch Bates has accepted a new position as Garland’s Deputy City Manager and Chief Operating Officer. This new position will assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City.
