Garland Brings Home State Video Awards

The City of Garland brought home eight trophies from the annual statewide Government Programming Awards. The awards were presented at the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers & Advisors (TATOA) conference in early November.

Garland was a finalist in seven categories and received an award in each of them.

Garland earned first place in two categories. “Only Rain in the Storm Drain” received the top award in the Public Education category, and “Home” won first place in the Event/Program Promotion category.

The City was awarded second place in several categories:

Mayor Athas’ 2017 It’s Time Texas Challenge” video earned third place in the Use of Humor category. The City also took third place with “Garland Careers” in the Profile of an Organization/Department category.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Nick Gibson and Pedro Hernandez, plus the amazing teamwork from everyone in Public & Media Relations that helped make this happen,” said Video Services Manager Dan Bach.

Garland’s Public & Media Relations Department manages and assists with production of the City’s Government Access Cable Channel (CGTV), Garland City Press and other publications, and the City website.
