The City of Garland is moving to Stage 2 Water Restrictions. The Garland City Council approved the change Tuesday night, to be effective immediately.
Under the recently revised Drought Contingency Response Plan, Garland residents will be allowed to water their lawns twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays only. Lawn watering with sprinklers is not allowed between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Watering with hand-held hose, soaker hose or drip irrigation is allowed at any time.
Because of the water shortages experienced this past year, residents are still encouraged to minimize non-essential water use. Lake Texoma, which typically fulfills 28 percent of our water needs, remains offline due to the zebra mussel infestation. Water Conservation must be practiced to ensure an adequate supply of water during the summer months. Garland City Council supports water conservation and encourages citizens to do their part in conserving this limited natural resource by using water wisely.
