Garland Supports Hurricane Response

The City of Garland continues to offer its support for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

As of Sept. 13, the Garland Police and Fire departments have deployed at least 27 individuals to assist with response and recoveryoperations. Garland Power & Light has deployed 13 line workers, as well as equipment to Florida to help with recovery from Hurricane Irma. 

Garland's Building Inspection Department has sent two individuals to coastal Texas to assist with damage assessments. A dispatcher has participated with the Telecommunicator Emergency Response Task Force. Emergency Management personnel have assisted with shelter operations in Dallas.

Representatives from both the Police and Fire departments helped deliver generators donated by Hisun Motors via the Guns and Hoses Foundation of North Texas. The McKinney-based manufacturer donated 248 generators for rescue and relief efforts in the hurricane-affected areas.
