Last month, Garland Fire Department Driver Engineer Brandon Day was elected as secretary/treasurer of the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters (TSAFF).
The state association represents 168 local firefighter associations with more than 14,000 members and lobbies on their behalf at the Texas Capitol. Brandon was elected by delegates who were attending the biennial convention.
The secretary/treasurer serves a two-year term and is responsible for overseeing the state association’s budget of more than $2 million. The position also serves as one of the two principal officers that represent Texas firefighters at state and provincial meetings held twice a year.
Brandon said he wants to improve the state association’s efficiency by using more modern financial practices and provide training for local secretary/treasurers across the state.
