The 72nd Annual Labor Day Parade and festivities are presented by the Noon Exchange Club of Garland and will take place at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 4.
A true community event, spectators will enjoy local bands, sports groups and floats during the parade through historic Downtown Garland.
The parade will begin at the intersection of Glenbrook Drive and Avenue D, then will head north on Glenbrook toward Main Street. Follow the parade east on Main and north on Fifth Street. The parade will continue down Fifth and will end near the Granville Arts Center.
Following the parade, gather in the Downtown Garland Square for the Sixth Annual Exchange Club Labor Day Classic Car Show and Kids’ BBQ Competition.
The Kids’ BBQ Competition is open to children ages 10 to 18. The $20 registration includes a spot to compete against other youth pitmasters of similar ages. Food, supplies and grills will be provided. Cash prizes will be awarded to first-place ($100), second-place ($50), and third-place ($25) winners in three different age categories. To enter the post-parade car show in Downtown Garland, please enter at Sixth and Walnut streets beginning at 9 a.m. Registration cost is $20 per car and includes a T-shirt and dash plaque for the first 50 entries.
