The announcement City Council has awaited is finally here! The building renovations as well as technology upgrades are substantially complete on the first level of City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St. While a few finishing touches remain outstanding, Council will resume meetings at City Hall as of Monday, Nov. 14.
Most of the construction fencing around City Hall will disappear by mid-November, making the west entrances to City Hall fully accessible from Fifth and State streets. On-street parking will also be available along Fifth and State streets. However, the parking lot adjacent to Roach Feed & Seed on the southeast corner of State and Fifth streets is no longer available for public parking; this lot is leased to Oaks City Center to serve as private parking for the tenants at 203 N. Fifth St.
Public parking is also available in the City Center Parking Structure. The parking restrictions are not in effect during the evenings and weekends, so those attending Council meetings may park on any level within the parking facility.
The hardscape improvements at Arts Plaza are complete, and landscape work has resumed. We anticipate re-opening the Arts Plaza by Thanksgiving, providing patron access to the Granville Performing Arts Center and The Atrium from Austin St. The sculpture installation will occur in spring 2017.
