Garland’s Route Optimization Program Kicks Off March 6
This week marks the beginning of the Route Optimization Program, an initiative to improve operating efficiencies in the Environmental Waste Services (EWS) Department. The program will balance routes in the residential, recycling and brush/bulky goods service areas.
Approximately 7,800 residents will be impacted by the project as follows: • Solid waste and brush/bulky goods collection day will be changed for 2,500 residents. • Regular recycling collection date and/or week of collection will be altered for 5,300 customers.
EWS has notified residents affected by the route changes via letter and cart tagging. New collection maps and recycling schedule are also available at www.GarlandEnvironmentalWaste.com. If you are not certain if your collection route is impacted by the changes, please email ewscustomerservice@GarlandTx.gov or call 972-205-3500.
“We thank our customers for their support during the rollout of this program,” said Lonnie Banks, managing director of Environmental Waste Services. “We will use the new routing structure to improve collection services, reduce overtime and save fuel.”
