The first day of school is Aug. 22, and the City of Garland still needs several school crossing guards.
School crossing guards will escort children, en route to and from school, safely across various streets and intersections. Shifts are a one-hour morning shift (7 to 8 a.m.) and a one-hour afternoon shift (3 to 4 p.m.), for a total of two hours per day. School crossing guards enjoy perks such as:
On-the-job and office training
Time off on weekends and holidays
Including one week at Thanksgiving, two weeks at Christmas and all summer
Substitute school guards work various locations throughout Garland
