The City of Garland will celebrate its 125th birthday during the third annual Garland Heritage Celebration, Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23, 2016.
The Heritage Celebration will feature a variety of historical tours, live music, vintage cars and more. On Friday, a convoy of vintage cars will stop in Downtown Garland as part of their commemoration of the historic Bankhead Highway route. The tour will arrive at approximately 11:15 a.m. followed by walking tours, historical presentations and entertainment.
At 3 p.m. on the Downtown Square, Garland Mayor Douglas Athas will read a proclamation remembering the City’s official beginnings 125 years ago. The celebration will include birthday cake and other treats.
The Heritage Celebration continues Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Heritage Crossing, 393 N. Sixth St., in Downtown Garland. The morning will include a second opportunity to celebrate the 125th birthday as part of the opening ceremonies. The Saturday festivities also will include cake and other treats.
