Garland Traffic Investigators have identified one driver and vehicle involved in the hit and run accident that occurred in the early morning hours on July 31. The driver of a Ford Explorer contacted investigators after seeing the news.
On July 31 at approximately 3:30 am, Garland Police responded to the report of an accident where a subject had been run over in the 12500 block of E. LBJ Freeway. Officers arrived and observed a subject lying on the ground in the middle of the highway. The responding officers shut down the highway and notified traffic investigators.

This morning at approximately 1:30 am, Garland Police responded to the report of an aggravated robbery in the 1800 block of Patton Dr. The victim stated he was robbed by several male subjects armed with long-guns and handguns, and stole his 2007 Silver Chevrolet Tahoe. The victim stated that the suspects exited a red passenger car before robbing him and then fled the scene in both vehicles.
Garland Homicide Detectives have obtained a warrant for 53 year old Donald Ray Giles, of Dallas, for the murder of Donald Wayne St Clair. Giles is known to frequent areas in Garland and Dallas; he also has ties to Houston.
12 DWI arrests were made during the 12 days of increased enforcement. Garland Police stepped up its Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) patrols from June 24 through July 5 in an effort to keep Garland citizens and visitors safe during the holiday.
On July 2, shortly after 3:00 pm, Garland Police responded to a Domestic Disturbance in the area of Centerville Rd. and Broadway Blvd. The female caller advised that she was being followed by her ex-boyfriend who had threatened to kill her and was driving a black Chevrolet passenger vehicle.
On Monday, June 13, at approximately 7:30pm, Garland Police responded to the report a man found dead in the 4200 block of Mayflower Dr. Officers arrived and observed the body of a man in the backyard of the residence who was later determined to have died from a gunshot wound.
Garland Police are searching for a vehicle and its driver involved in a fatality hit & run accident that occurred on April 14, 2016.
Shortly after 8:30 pm, officers responded to the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 5500 block of Lyons Road. When officers arrived they observed a male lying in the roadway with severe injuries.
On April 13, at approximately 11:00 pm, Garland Police responded to a multiple car crash on southbound LBJ Freeway near La Prada. When officers arrived they observed that 4 vehicles had been involved in the accident. An 18 year old woman and 4 year old female child were killed.
On May 16, 2015, Crystal Nuncio, who was employed by the Garland Police Department Communications Unit, was killed in a head on collision by a driver traveling the wrong way on LBJ. The driver, Luis Angel Rodriguez, who was driving the other vehicle,was sentenced today to 13 years in prison.
15 DWI arrests were made during 18 days of increased enforcement. Garland Police stepped up its Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) patrols, from March 4 through March 21, in an effort to keep Garland citizens and visitors safe during the Spring Break Holiday.
On March 18, shortly after 8:00 am, pursued a stolen vehicle into Dallas and arrested two occupants.
On March 8, shortly after 9:00 am, Garland Police and Fire responded to the report of a weather-related injury and damage to three businesses in the 2600 block of Industrial Lane.
On February 24, at approximately 11:00 pm, Garland Police responded to an aggravated robbery that occurred at Indian Lake Park located in the 1200 block of Briar Hollow Lane.
On February 18 shortly after 8:30 pm, Garland Police responded to an aggravated robbery at the SK Mart convenience store located in the 1400 block of N. Glenbrook.
On January 30, Garland Police responded to a fatality hit and run accident in the 2400 block of W. Kingsley Road where a female pedestrian was struck and killed by a gold Ford Mustang convertible with a black top that had fled the location.
Yesterday afternoon Garland Police arrested and charged 28 year old Jorge Luis Pineda Urtado of Garland for Failure to Stop and Render Aid – Involving Death.

Update to Homeowner Fatally Shoots Man
The Garland Police Department is working closely with the Texas Department of Insurance and the National Insurance Crime Bureau in order to protect the residents of Garland from unscrupulous individuals who prey upon disaster victims.
Garland Fire Department’s Chief Raymond Knight has recognized Garland police officer Shaun Smith with the Public Safety Herosim Award. Chief Knight described the incident in a letter written to the Garland Police Department.
$250,000 of K2 (Synthetic Marihuana) was seized last week during a drug bust. Owners and operators, Bok Shin and Myung Shin, of MK Beauty Supply and Wayne’s Convenience Store were arrested for delivery and possession of the dangerous street drug.
This morning at just after 7 a.m., Garland Police responded to the 5200 block of Hollow Bend Lane on reported gunshots. When officers arrived, they were told several men had come inside the home to rob them. During the attempted robbery, shots were exchanged between the robbers and the homeowner.
Excellence is made at the City of Garland, and that excellence has been sought after to influence another Texas city. The Garland Police Department will soon say farewell to one of its assistant chiefs, who will serve as the new Chief of Police for the McKinney Police Department.
For the second year in a row, the City of Garland received national recognition as one of the top 10 safest cities. According to Law Street Media, Garland is ranked ninth in the “Top 10 Safest Cities Over 200,000” in the United States.
