Driver Dies in Hit & Run on LBJ Freeway

July 31, 2016 

On July 31 at approximately 3:30 am, Garland Police responded to the report of an accident where a subject had been run over in the 12500 block of E. LBJ Freeway. Officers arrived and observed a subject lying on the ground in the middle of the highway. The responding officers shut down the highway and notified traffic investigators.

Aggravated Robbery Suspects Arrested After Standoff with Police

July 20, 2016 

This morning at approximately 1:30 am, Garland Police responded to the report of an aggravated robbery in the 1800 block of Patton Dr. The victim stated he was robbed by several male subjects armed with long-guns and handguns, and stole his 2007 Silver Chevrolet Tahoe. The victim stated that the suspects exited a red passenger car before robbing him and then fled the scene in both vehicles.

Independence Day DWI Enforcement Results

12 DWI arrests were made during the 12 days of increased enforcement. Garland Police stepped up its Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) patrols from June 24 through July 5 in an effort to keep Garland citizens and visitors safe during the holiday.

Murder Victim Found

July 5, 2016 

On July 4, shortly before 12:30 pm, Garland Police responded to the report of a body found in a warehouse located in the 700 block of Shepherd Dr. Responding officers arrived and found the body of a male subject dead inside the location.

Man Found Murdered

June 15, 2016 

On Monday, June 13, at approximately 7:30pm, Garland Police responded to the report a man found dead in the 4200 block of Mayflower Dr. Officers arrived and observed the body of a man in the backyard of the residence who was later determined to have died from a gunshot wound.

Police Search for Fatality Hit & Run Vehicle and Driver

April 15, 2016 

Garland Police are searching for a vehicle and its driver involved in a fatality hit & run accident that occurred on April 14, 2016.

Shortly after 8:30 pm, officers responded to the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 5500 block of Lyons Road. When officers arrived they observed a male lying in the roadway with severe injuries.

Woman and Child Killed in Multiple Car Crash

April 14, 2016 

On April 13, at approximately 11:00 pm, Garland Police responded to a multiple car crash on southbound LBJ Freeway near La Prada. When officers arrived they observed that 4 vehicles had been involved in the accident. An 18 year old woman and 4 year old female child were killed.

Driver Convicted and Sentenced in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash

April 13, 2016 

On May 16, 2015, Crystal Nuncio, who was employed by the Garland Police Department Communications Unit, was killed in a head on collision by a driver traveling the wrong way on LBJ. The driver, Luis Angel Rodriguez, who was driving the other vehicle,was sentenced today to 13 years in prison.

Arrest Made in Fatality Hit & Run

February 11, 2016 

On January 30, Garland Police responded to a fatality hit and run accident in the 2400 block of W. Kingsley Road where a female pedestrian was struck and killed by a gold Ford Mustang convertible with a black top that had fled the location.

Yesterday afternoon Garland Police arrested and charged 28 year old Jorge Luis Pineda Urtado of Garland for Failure to Stop and Render Aid – Involving Death.

Arrest Made in Murder

August 25, 2015 

On August 7, 2015, 24 year old Jose Alfredo Martinez of Garland was murdered in the 1700 block of White Oak Drive. On August 21, 22 year old Adrian Regalado of Garland was taken into custody for the murder.

Whataburger Robbery

Garland Police have recovered video from a Whataburger robbery that occurred last Saturday morning just after 4 am. Three men, one who was armed with a handgun, entered the store in the 700 block of East Centerville Road.

$250,000 of K2 (Synthetic Marihuana) was seized last week during a drug bust. Owners and operators, Bok Shin and Myung Shin, of MK Beauty Supply and Wayne’s Convenience Store were arrested for delivery and possession of the dangerous street drug.

Home Invasion Robbery

March 27, 2015 

This morning at just after 7 a.m., Garland Police responded to the 5200 block of Hollow Bend Lane on reported gunshots. When officers arrived, they were told several men had come inside the home to rob them. During the attempted robbery, shots were exchanged between the robbers and the homeowner.

Car thief shot by vehicle owner

A female driving a stolen Nissan crashed into a Mercury SUV while driving in a parking lot. The Mercury was occupied by its owner. The owner of the Mercury got out of his vehicle and the female exited the Nissan. She approached the Mercury owner and forced her way into his vehicle.

Update on Shoplifter Shooting

Garland Police have identified the man shot yesterday in a Wal-Mart shoplifting incident as 31 year old Casey Daniel Smith of Kemp, Texas. Police have also linked Smith to a stolen Cadillac found in the same Wal-Mart parking lot.

Shoplifter Shot

A Garland Police Officer, working off-duty security at a Wal-Mart in the 1800 block of Market Place, shot a shoplifter as the shoplifter tried to attack the officer with a crowbar.
