Congratulations to the 2017 Garland Neighborhood Award Winners! 

Great neighborhoods take work! The City of Garland, Office of Neighborhood Vitality wanted to recognize those who make extraordinary efforts to enhance, revitalize, or invest in their neighborhoods. The awards included Garland Neighborhood of the Year, Neighborhood Publication of the Year and Who's Who in Garland Neighborhoods. For the first time, neighborhoods were able to apply for these awards and nominate outstanding neighbors for recognition. The winners were determined by an anonymous panel of judges which comprised of community members, business leaders and City staff. 

Garland Neighborhood of the Year - New World Crime Watch

The Garland Neighborhood of the Year Award allows the City of Garland to recognize one neighborhood who stands out through their neighborhood investment. New World Crime Watch was awarded the 2017 Garland Neighborhood of the Year for their exemplary efforts to transform Armstrong Park to a place that promotes community, safety and healthy living. Neighborhood Publication of the Year - Camelot Neighborhood

Newsletters, E-Newsletters or other publications are great tools to inform, inspire and engage fellow neighbors to join the efforts of neighborhood investment. Camelot Neighborhood Association was awarded Neighborhood Publication of the Year for their monthly "Knightly News" publication. Shown below: Joe Thomas & Reba Collins.

Who's Who in Garland Neighborhoods - Louis & Kay Moore

The Who's Who in Garland Neighborhoods title is awarded to an individual (or individuals) who is a living example of what a "Good Neighbor" is. Louis & Kay Moore were awarded the 2017 Who's Who in Garland Neighborhoods for their exemplary job of advocating for their community and their successful pursuit in receiving a historical designation for their neighborhood.
