Garland Development Code (GDC)
The Garland Development Code is a consolidated document that includes development-related regulations such as zoning requirements, subdivision regulations and other design and development standards.
A consolidated code has several advantages over maintaining separate codes:
- It avoids overlapping, conflicting or inconsistent requirements by providing one source for all standards.
- It is more efficient since users only need to become familiar with one set of standards and the approval procedures are covered under one ordinance.
- By integrating all types of development, a consolidated code offers a more comprehensive approach to design and leads to more consistent treatment of different types of development.
