Special Events

The City of Garland's Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department hosts several annual events.

Garland's Gone Camping 

Grab your tent and sleeping bag and head to Audubon Park for a night under the stars with family and friends.  Enjoy a night hike, games, s'mores, a campfire and entertainment.  Dinner and breakfast provided.

Christmas on the Square

Join us at Garland's historic Downtown Square for the annual tree lighting! There will be craft vendors, children's choirs, holiday food, train rides, snow tubing hills, and even Santa!

Snacks with Santa


Join us at Fields Recreation Center for a fun filled evening of holiday fun! Enjoy making crafts, playing games and having a snack with Santa and his helpers.  This event is held in mid-December.

Sweetheart Dance

Sweetheart Dance is held at The Atrium in Downtown Garland. Dads, granddads, and uncles, watch your little one shine at the Sweetheart Dance in early February.

Easter Egg Hunt

Children get the chance to hunt for colorful candy and toy filled eggs.  Bounce around in a jump house, go through the obstacle course, and load up on recreation activity information.

Parks and Recreation Month

Each year, Garland's Park, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department celebrates National Park and Recreation Month in July. A whole month of activities, contests, and special deals to get you outdoors!



This event includes pet services and supplies, pet adoptions, and prize drawings. Plus your pooch gets some pool time! Proceeds support Garland Pawsibilities’ mission to increase shelter pet adoptions in Garland. Cost is $5 per dog (rabies tag or certification required), and $1 per human. This event is cash only.

Outdoor Fest & Live Well, Go Green

Outdoor Fest has joined the Healthy Living Expo.  Bass Pro Shops, local outdoor organizations, and the Garland Parks and Recreation Department will help you find the perfect outdoor activity to suite your level of adventure.
