After closely monitoring north Texas winter weather advisories from the National Weather Service, the City of Garland has decided to POSTPONE Christmas on the Square until next Thursday, Dec. 12. The event will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. with the official tree lighting at 7 p.m.
The rescheduled event will have the same wonderful attractions that Garland citizens have come to enjoy in past years including snow sledding hills, music, ice sculpting, live reindeer, and train rides to name a few. The City of Garland prides itself on safety as one of our top priorities.
About Christmas on the Square
December 12, 2013 - 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Downtown Garland Square
Garland’s annual Christmas on the Square event will feature a variety of free activities and entertainment options in Downtown Garland, highlighted by the official tree-lighting ceremony and fireworks display. Holiday music will be provided by Garland ISD choirs, while lights and décor will create a magical atmosphere.
Sled down snow hills made with real snow, ride trains through a wintery wonderland, and participate in various children’s crafts and activities. No Christmas event would be complete without a visit from Santa! Join in as Santa leads the countdown to turn on the lights and start the fireworks show around 7 p.m. Immediately afterward, children will have the opportunity to get their picture taken with Santa and tell him their Christmas wishes.
Take advantage of the shopping opportunities at the Christmas Bazaar where artisans will feature unique holiday gift items. Food selections will include local food trucks, hot drinks, and seasonal treats. Christmas on the Square is a community event.
