Do you provide recycling service for businesses?
Yes, we can provide 6 or 8 cubic yard containers for cardboard only recycling or single stream recycling, where all materials go in the container together.  We can help you assess your recycling needs.  Give us a call at 972-205-3500.

What is the collection frequency for recycling service for commercial sites?
Once per week.

What sizes of containers are available?

  • Front-load dumpsters: 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 cubic yards
  • Recycling Front-load dumpsters: 6 and 8 cubic yards
  • Open Top Roll-Off Containers: 20, 30, and 40 cubic yards
  • Compactor: 34 and 42 cubic yards are standard sizes, but others are available upon request


What are your collection days?
Monday – Saturday

What can I dispose of in the container(s)?
Non-hazardous solid waste.  No liquid, radioactive, reactive, toxic, ignitable, corrosive, pathological, acidic or waste which is listed as hazardous or toxic substance (as defined by local, state, and federal laws or regulations).

Do I have to sign a contract?
Yes, a service agreement is required to establish service.

How will I be billed?
Commercial and residential customers are required to establish a City of Garland utility account.  Services will be billed on a monthly basis (one stop billing).

What is the charge if I need an extra dump between service days for a front-load container?
There is a flat fee for extra dumps ($28.44 plus franchise fee and sales tax).  The fee may be billed on your City of Garland utility account.

How soon can container(s) be delivered?
Within 24-48 hours after receipt of a signed service agreement.

What if I need to change the container size or collection frequency after I sign a service agreement?
No problem.  We update your records by completing a Service Agreement Addendum that reflects the changes as requested

How can I prevent illegal dumping in my container?
You may request to have a gravity locking device installed on your dumpster.  There is a one-time fee to cover the cost of the locking device.  Departmental staff will install it for you at no additional charge.
