The Environmental Waste Services Department observes the following City-designated holidays:
- New Year’s Day – January 1
- Martin Luther King Day – third Monday in January
- Memorial Day – last Monday in May
- Labor Day – first Monday in September
- Thanksgiving Day – fourth Thursday in November
- Christmas Day – December 25
Offices closed Dec. 24 - 25 and Jan. 1
No garbage, recycling or brush/bulky goods collection on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Wednesday collection routes will resume on Thursday; Thursday collection routes will resume on Friday, and Friday collection routes will resume on Saturday.
Drop-Off Recycling Center - Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1; open Dec. 24 and 31 (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Transfer Station - Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1; open Dec. 24 and 31 (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
C.M. Hinton, Jr. Regional Landfill and Wood Recycling Facility - Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1; open Dec. 24 and 31 (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
If a holiday falls on the normal Tuesday through Friday residential collection schedule all collections scheduled on or after the holiday will be made one day later that week. July 4 is an exception. If July 4 falls on a Tuesday through Friday, Environmental Waste Services will run normal collection schedule on July 4.
Please remember, all items must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.
