Plaza Movie Program

The City of Garland presents several FREE movies throughout the year at the Plaza Theatre.  They are first come, first served general admission shows.  No tickets are required.  Popcorn, candy, soda and water are available for $2 each.  All proceeds from concessions go the Garland Good Samaritans.


September 20, 2014   "Stagecoach" 7 pm
Join us at the Plaza Theatre as Danger holds the reins as the devil cracks the whip! Desperate men! Frontier women! Rising above their pasts in a West corrupted by violence and gun-fire! This 1939 classic is the story of a simple stagecoach trip complicated by the fact that Geronimo is on the warpath in the area. The passengers on the coach include a drunken doctor, two women, a bank manager who has taken off with his client's money, and the famous Ringo Kid, this is a powerful story of 9 strange people. Presented by the City of Garland, this film is FREE and open to the public. Popcorn, candy and soda are available for $2. All proceeds from concessions go to the Garland Good Samaritans.


October 31, 2014  "Creature from the Black Lagoon" 7 pm
Join us for a family friendly Halloween evening with this classic Monster Movie. A strange prehistoric beast lurks in the depths of the Amazonian jungle. A group of scientists try to capture the animal and bring it back to civilization for study. “Creature from the Black Lagoon” has all the features of the classic monster movies from years past. Come dressed up for a Costume Contest! Winners in the kids and adult categories will win prizes! This is a fun, family friendly event you will not want to miss! Presented by the City of Garland, this film is FREE and open to the public. Popcorn, candy and soda are available for $2. All proceeds from concessions go to the Garland Good Samaritans.


December 6, 2014  "White Christmas"  7 pm
Irving Berlin’s classic holiday movie from 1954 is the story of a successful song-and-dance team who become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont Inn of their former commanding general. Starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kay and Rosemary Clooney, this is a must see movie to brighten your holiday season. “White Christmas” was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song, but not for the song you would think! It was nominated for the song “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep.”
