City Government

Garland operates under the Council-Manager form of government with eight single-member City Council districts and a mayor elected at-large.  The Mayor and City Council set policy by creating City Ordinances and appoint a professional City Manager to hire staff and oversee the overall operations of the City Government organization.

In this section of our website, you will find links to City Council information and activities, information about the various boards and commissions appointed by City Council to focus on specific issues, as well as individual City departments.  The departments are listed by name in alphabetical order.

If you prefer to search for a specific City Service, please go to the "City Services" tab or the "City Services" search box on the City's Home Page.
