How can I find out if someone is in the Garland Detention Center (Jail)?



How is a prisoner's property released?
A prisoner's property may be released after the prisoner gives written permission authorizing the release.  (Partial property releases are not permitted; the prisoner must release all or none of their property to the requesting party).

What type of facility is the Garland Detention Center?
The Garland Detention Center is a holding facility. Prisoners are generally confined less than 72 hours before being transferred to another facility or released.

When are prisoners arraigned?
Arraignments are generally conducted daily between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m..  

When can prisoners make telephone calls?
Prisoners are allowed to place limited free telephone calls once their booking process is complete. Prisoners are not allowed incoming phone calls but may have the opportunity to make collect phone calls from inside their cell area. 

When is the Detention Center (Jail) open?
The Detention Center (Jail) is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

When is visitation times?

Regular jail visitation times are as follows:

  • Sunday - 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Wednesday - 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Visitors must meet the following requirements:
  • possess valid state-issued photo identification, and
  • be at least 17 years of age, or be in the company of a qualified parent, or be the spouse of the prisoner (documentation required)
  • be able to name the person whom they wish to visit
  • visitation will only be permitted if the prisoner is willing to speak with the visitor
  • visits will normally be limited to 10 minutes
